Although it began life as a roadster, the idea of a coupé bodied MGB was around from early on in the model’s gestation, not least on the back of the success of other British sports models such as the Jaguar E-Type and – of course – MG’s own successful (and striking) MGA Coupé
Indeed, both Syd Enever and John Thornleylaunch focus was directed at the two-door model.
