“I never planned on buying an MG Midget,” says Chris Munro, proud owner of the striking silver example you see in front of you. It wasn’t so much because he wasn’t an MG man, after all Chris had run an MGB roadster for three years in his late teens and completely adored it, but his previous classic was a bit more exotic.

“I had a very rare Porsche 924 Carrera GT for quite a long time,”series of house renovations. I knew I’d not be without a classic car for long. With the house renovations paid for, I planned to get back into something interesting, maybe another Porsche or even an Alfa Romeo, but I started to question the ridiculous prices being asked of so many more ‘thoroughbred’ classics. I changed my focus to what I could buy relatively cheaply and still have the most fun in.
