The popularity of witches on our TV screens experienced a resurgence during the 1990s. There appeared a need among post-grunge teens for young women with whom they could identify. This is borne out in the movie , where four teenage friends get themselves in trouble through their misuse of magic. Opening the door to the likes of Willow Rosenberg, witchy sidekick, and the girls, who used their powers to protect others. Younger teens had , the story of a young girl getting to grips with her newfound magical abilities while dealing with the tribulations, and provided a grittier, far more occult inspired version of the witch.
