The bonfire-style checkpointing; the measured combat, with its careful stamina management; the fragmented lore and the branching routes to explore: all are present and correct. It’s ironic that FromSoftware’s work, showing a desire to rip up the rulebook, should inspire so many to follow its template so closely. Who knew that
