Working on a cutting mat and beginning at a corner of your sheet of card, measure and draw a line 1cm in from both edges. The lines don’t have to be any particular length at this stage.

Sit your chosen stamp into the angle 3-5mm from the pencil lines and draw in the position.

Measure and draw in the remaining two sides to form a box frame around the stamp detail, making sure the template is a perfect square.

Mark the template as the ‘lid/base’.

Continuing the pencil line from the lid section, measure and draw the side panel to your chosen height. Carefully cut both templates out.

Prepare a block of clay large enough to accommodate your templates in multiples of two for lid and base and four for the sides, plus a little extra for added details like feet etc.
