    You will need:

    ■ Clay – earthenware or stoneware

    ■ Rolling pin, plastic sheet, roller guides (4-5mm thick)

    ■ Ribs and general tools plus cookie cutters

    ■ Glaze to decorate – suitable for clay type

    ■ Wick and lamp oil – if used as a working lamp

    ■ Match-striker paper for the match pot – available online

    DIFFICULTY RATING ★★★★★

    Note: We pinch out the base first because it will become harder to reach as the shape grows.

    Keep the top relatively closed – it’s important not to allow it to flare outwards too much.

    Curl the pinched coil into an open-rimmed cone
