DIY Servicing 2016 Audi RS3 Sportback 2.5
Audi’s RS3 is a true pocket-rocket of a hot hatchback with some mouthwatering ingredients including all-wheel drive, a fivecylinder turbocharged 362bhp twin-cam engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch direct shift gearbox (DSG), resulting in a 0-62mph time of 4.3 seconds. Sounds great to drive, but what is it like to service? We asked independent VAG specialist IVC of Leeds to reveal the truth and we were surprised to discover it’s not as bad as we had expected. There’s not much space in the engine bay, but access to filters and the spark plugs is relatively straightforward, although there’s little space to inspect or replace the auxiliary drive belt. Elsewhere on the RS3, access to components is good and the following steps outline everything from changing the cabin filter to inspecting the brakes.
ENGINE BAY CHECKS
1 CHECK SCREENWASH
Extract the filter from inside the reservoir’s filler neck to check it’s clean (wash it out if it’s dirty). Top-up with screenwash. Operate the windscreen wipers to check they spray over the glass and headlights. Test the rear wiper as well. Afterwards, inspect the condition of the wiper blades.
2 CHECK & TEST COOLANT
The engine coolant expansion tank is located in the offside rear corner of the engine bay.
Look at the side of it for the MAX marker.
