‘The dining area was a big space, so it needed some texture and interest adding to the white walls. I also wanted it to feel distinct from the kitchen, so I decided to zone the area with panelling. I used SketchUp, a 3D design program, to model the space so that I could see what it would look like before I began the actual work, as I wanted to decorate the space myself. The final design included wrapping the panelling around the area to make it feel more intimate.
