Bib shorts are the workhorses of your cycling armoury, the versatile mile munchers that will perform on endurance rides, intense turbo sets, spin classes and other such saddlefocussed activities. But that's not to say any old bibs will do.
As the main contact point between you and your bike, they'll need to perform the multi-faceted tasks of keeping your nether regions supported, receiving airflow, preventing chafing, and securing you on the saddle with no slipping and sliding around.
Size is important and the overall fit should be snug yet comfortable in the pedalling position, with both the straps and grippers holding them securely in place and the pad providing hours of blissful riding. A bib shorts pad will also be noticeably thicker than that of a tri-suit, meaning running in bibs ain't much fun (so don't do it!).
Looking after your bottom will repay you in the long run. Always wash your bibs after every ride to avoid bacterial infections, and add a coating of chamois cream to help reduce friction. If you ride regularly, having more than one pair of bibs is a smart idea. Plus, it means you can keep the
