THE HOT LIST

Last month, various members of Team CR watched Robert Plant and Alison Krauss at Hyde Park’s British Summer Time festival. Unsurprisingly, their performance was a glorious thing to see (one of those sublime, butter-and-honey pairings that felt rich and light at the same time). It also shone a light on the power of great homaging. Old songs given new life. Classic sounds reimagined.

Rock’n’roll is often called out for this sort of thing, with fans and non-fans declaring it a spent force (quite apart from Gene Simmons’ disproportionately repeated “rock is dead” quote). But using this as aspent.
