Ever ’ad a Lambretta? No, I didn’t think so, and that’s understandable. Culturally, your LI150, TV175, SX200 relates to a slightly ‘left-field’ demographic, maybe a bit more Paul Weller than Ian Dury.
But historically motorcyclists rebel against any ties of convention, and I applaud that, vive la diff... sorry, long may our differences unite, and define us. I suppose it’s easy to criticise and quickly dismiss our Everoak and wuffly Parkawearing small-wheeled Honchos, it’s a trait that Homo Sapiens‘Rockers’ stuff is way past its use by date. I know they don’t ‘look’ like bikes and they certainly offer riding challenges that will seriously test the hand/eye co-ordination/ dexterity boundaries of your average bike-ist to the limit within the first two hundred yards. You don’t believe me? Just try to execute a slick, crunch-free downshift on an SX200 in front of an audience; a limp wrist will result in an unpleasant, and potentially expensive soundtrack from under your right calf! But is there passion?
