GT: Do you have a type of pick that you can’t live without?

VB: Yes. I love the purple Jim Dunlop Tortex 1.14 picks. I just really like the well-rounded sound of them.

GT: If you had to give up all your pedals but three, what would they be?

VB: MXR Micro Amp. I had one of those since I was about 16 or 17 years old. Great problem solver back then when my Marshall amps didn’t have enough gain. I still have my original one although there is nothing written on it any more; just a battered white pedal. It’s probably cheating but I would also have to include my Kemper Stage units. It’s been fantastic to use profiles of my actual amps live. I was waiting years for Kemper to bring out an all-in-one pedalboard. I have two now, but the other is just a backup. Also have the classic Kemper in my studio that I record with and do all my profiles on. I also love my Custom Audio Electronics wah. If I need a wah in the
