LET’S START THE SNAGGING. IT doesn’t really stop, but I should find less as time goes on – hopefully!

Starting up from cold doesn’t need the choke; noted for later carb adjustments. It feels responsive and quiet at first, so after a minute I tentatively go for first gear. No problem! Clutch is a little grabby, but everything is new barring the cable, so I’ll forgive and set off – even that is odd, with slow riding awkward with narrow ‘bars. The road is quiet and all my senses are hyper-sensitive, feeling for vibrations, listening for rattles and smelling for oil. Petrol – I can smell petrol. I’m 100 yards away. Stop, turn off ignition and fuel taps. Bugger.

It’s only leaking very slightly –
