In this workshop Simply Sewing’s Senior Technical Editor Roisin walks you through the process of a full bust adjustment for a wrap front bodice.
Bust adjustments of any kind can be daunting. For a plain bodice the steps are relatively simple, but add in other aspects such as darts in different places, or wrap bodice fronts and the complexity often puts people off. We promise that once you get started it can be therapeutic to work though the stages. When you see the difference that correct fit can make you won’t look back to the days of ‘that’ll do!’.
YOU WILL NEED
■ Calico. Size 6–20: 1mx140cm, sizes 22–30: 2mx140cm (see notes)
■ Pattern paper
■ Pattern master or ruler
■ Paper scissors
■ Coloured fine liners
■ Scotch magic tape (or other clear matter tape)
■ Mechanical pencil

■ These instructions are only intended for an FBA on the Rita dress due to the combination of an armhole dart and wrap bodice.
■ 1–2m of fabric will be enough to create two samples of the bodice. Use a fabric that is similar in weight to your chosen fabric to get an accurate idea of fit.
