English paper piecing is a traditional quilting technique that emerged in the 1700s. It was the original make-do-andmend of home crafts. Small scraps of fabric or old clothing were used to create large heirloom pieces that were warm and decorative.
At its heart, English paper piecing is simply tacking a scrap of fabric around a paper shape. The shapes are then sewn together and the papers are removed, leaving you with a beautiful patchwork. Hexagons are probably the most popular shape, but others are used
