THIS MONTH IN THE GARAGE

hen it comes to engine building, for me, personally, I love BFB (bang for buck) – decent power output with minimum financial input! Well, I’m a Yorkshireman after all. When building my own engines, a Vespa BFB might look like a simple P200 lump, with a SIP Road 2 pipe, 26mm BGM carb, and a mild porting job to the cylinder ports and crank-inlet duration. If it was a small-block lump, perhaps a PX125 with the same pipe, carb, and porting as above… but maybe with a Malossi 177 cylinder and clutch up-gear kit thrown in. For a Lambretta build, my favourite BFB is just a good old-fashioned 225cc cast iron block, ported of course, 30mm Dell’Orto, five-plate clutch, Indian web crank with Jap rod/bearing, and one
