In September 2021 Mitsubishi Motors confirmed it had secured 5000 Mitsubishi Tritons for the New Zealand market when every car company was screaming and struggling to get vehicles to sell.

This meant for anyone wanting a new ute, MMNZ was quite literally the only game in town. And those five thousand units? They were 98 per cent sold by January of this year.

It's fair to say the Triple Diamond brand had a stranglehold monopoly on the market, with other major players hamstrung by international slowdowns or planned run-outs in anticipation of new product arriving later in the year.
