Novum

What would it be like to have an instrument that splits sounds into their component parts like a prism? This thought inspired Dawesome to create the Novum granular synthesizer. With its Decompose function, it separates samples into six different layers. The timbre and temporal evolution of the sound can be adjusted independently of each other and the grains of the material can be synchronized to the host tempo.

Novum can be used in a variety of ways: field recordings can be transformed into tuned instruments using the comb filter, single guitar or piano notes can be turned into dense organic textures, a vocal voice into a glassy pad, or drum loops into resonating sounds.
