CORDYLINES are popular garden plants in the UK. Arguably, 15-20 years ago they were even more popular, because at that time the trend for exotic gardens was at its highest – and these are truly exotic-looking plants, with their spiky, palm-like leaves and often highly fragrant flowers. The cordyline genus is quite small, with around 15 species found naturally in Australasia, and one, in tropical America. All are evergreen.
