I am currently having a full rebuild carried out on my SPi Mini engine and gearbox. The engine is being rebored to 1293cc and fitted with a Stage 2 modified head. I think I would like to upgrade the cam. Is it worth doing this or should I fit high-lift rockers?

It is certainly worthwhile upgrading the cam, particularly as the engine is currently out of the car and being fully rebuilt; high-lift rockers at this level of tune are ideal when the engine is not being removed. Fit a cam such as the Kent MD274SP single-point injection cam which has been produced for the SPi engine, preferably together with Vernier timing gears so that the cam can be accurately timed in. The Kent cam will provide a very reasonable power increase, excellent torque
