When the chair of New Zealand Rugby reads out the first All Blacks squad of the year, he does it in alphabetical order.
So this year as the squad for the three-test series against Ireland was announced in June, it included-“Dalton Papali’i, Blues and Counties Manukau. Stephen Perofeta, Bluesand Taranaki. Sevu Reece, Crusaders and Tasman.”
It took a moment to register the most notable absentee. For the first time in almost a decade, TJ Perenara had been left out.
