From being a popular architectural style in the mid-20th century to facing its descent as a model of bad, even monstrous, taste in the mid-1970s, the principle of Brutalism is once again finding its way to the present era. This time, it’s through the style sensibilities of the up-and-coming, 21-year-old fashion designer Ellis Co.
“ARCHIVES is a representation of my growth over the years,” the designer says proudly. “It is a high-fashion streetwear brand that takes heavy influence from Brutalist architecture—an architectural style that I found fascinating due to its emphasis on simplicity, honesty, and functionality.”
