Like any self-respecting millennial who came of age watching Madonna subvert cowboy aesthetics in her-album era, I go yeehaw for cowboy boots, distressed denim, bejewelled singlet tops – and if the occasion calls for it, a pink cowboy hat from the $2 store. I romanticise the iconic matching denim outfits that Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears wore in. Alas, I live in an urban centre, think horses are stinky and have never been to a hoedown (the closest I’ve come is watching a friend fall off a mechanical bucking bull at a fete).
