The editor says: I was at the Hellingly Festival of Transport, in, I think 1989, when in his white overalls the late John Naylor, who sadly died from covid in 2021, told me that his ex-Martin Saunders, ex-New Zealand/Australian 1909 Burrell No. 3131 8hp, a compound export double geared, sprung traction engine, was making its last appearance before he took it off the road.

He had previously sold 1915 Burrell No. 3655 6hp double-crank compound traction engine FU822 in approximately 1988 to former Maidstone Zoo
