The world’s most isolated major football club

Perth, the largest city in the state of Western Australia, is one of the most isolated major conurbations on the planet. Geographically it’s closer to Jakarta in Indonesia than it is to Sydney, Australia’s biggest city.

Home to around two million people, Perth is famous for its pristine beaches and fantastic architecture, as well as a burgeoning community of multi-millionaires. The two wealthiest neighbourhoods in the country are in Perth, populated largely by people who’ve made their money from the mining sector.

As anyone from Perth will attest to, it’s also a city that’s mad about sport.
