“That first World Cup created my legacy”

How is life in Qatar and how much have you been enjoying it out there?

It is really busy. I have been working here for three years at the Aspire Academy across all different sports – not just football. It is something I have embraced since retiring. I went through the processes of getting my UEFA coaching licences, and studying for diplomas and management courses to better myself academically. It has been a long journey working with FIFA, the footballing federations and assisting domestic club teams as well. I still have a relationship with Everton too, and now we are closing in on the greatest show on Earth.
