GIRL POWER

Ellie Cole started swimming as a very young girl, after having her leg amputated at three as a last-ditch treatment for her childhood cancer. It was thought the training would aid her rehabilitation; although perhaps not anticipated that her personal drive and determination would take her to the pinnacle of the sport. She holds 17 Paralympic medals, including six gold, and recently competed in her final Commonwealth Games in Birmingham before retiring from swimming. She is a strong advocate for equity and equality for people with a disability.
