LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Remembering Keith Blizzard

Congratulations on Old Bike Australasia’s 100th milestone. In November 2020 our very good mate and fellow motorcyclist, Keith Blizzard, passed the chequered flag. For more than forty years Keith had been an officer and lifetime member of the Otford Rural Fire Brigade in southern Sydney. As a tribute to his dedicated service to the Otford Brigade and community, his 1950 Royal Enfield 350 Bullet short circuit race bike (known as the Blizzard Bullet) is now showcased on permanent display on the mezzanine at the fire station.

Keith was a member of the St George Motor Cycle Club and rode the Bullet and his Hagon JAP through the 1960s and ‘70s. Until his passing he regularly met with friends from the ‘60s who called themselves the Bankstown Devils. During this time he rode an immaculate Triumph Bonneville along with his wife Sue. Always remembered, sadly missed.

An interesting history

(This letter was sent to John Simms regarding his BMW R69S featured in OBA 101)

Thanks for contacting me regarding your BMW R69S. From my records, I am able to tell you that your BMW, Engine Number 656064, was indeed in the Victoria Police Fleet, registered as CZ-014. The mileage of your R69S at time of disposal was not recorded, however, other BMWs with engine numbers close to yours were recorded with mileages between 35000 – 39000.

CZ-014 was traded-in to Pratt Motorcycle Co. on a new BMW R69
