The Surrey side’s rise to the fifth tier is all the more impressive considering the club’s grassroots heritage. Set up as recently as 1999 to keep a bunch of friends entertained on Saturday afternoons, they entered the lowest rung of English football as a Crawley and District League outfit. Now they are in the same division as Southend, Oldham and Notts County.
