Running out of time

Caroline Mousdale, 54, Waterlooville

Throwing my arms around my son Bradley, I didn’t want to let go.

‘Mum, I’m only an hour away from home!’ he groaned.

‘But I’ll miss you so much,’ I said, with a lump in my throat.

Bradley, 18, was my only child.

And, now, September 2015, he’d left home, moving 50 miles away to study business studies at Kingston University.

I was so proud of my boy, but I was dreading going home without him.

I tore myself away eventually with a promise that Bradley would call me later
