Sunburst Mirror
The rays surrounding this decorative mirror from Alicia Roothoff at Thrifty and Chic are actually bamboo skewers! To try your hand at this ingenious accent, purchase a 100-pack of skewers, a round mirror from the candle department and a slightly larger wood disc. Draw a center circle, 1"-2” in diameter, on the back of the mirror. Using hot glue, secure skewers—sharp side in—around the circle. Fill in the gaps with extra skewers, staggering the ends. Stain or paint the skewers and the wood disc as desired and let dry. Glue the disc to the back of the mirror. Cut jute rope to trim the edge of the mirror and glue in place. Install appropriate hanging hardware on the back of the finished mirror.
