Shortly after my father passed away in 2015 I watched The Babadook. I’d been aware of this critically acclaimed supernatural chiller for a while, but when a good friend – who had lost both his parents – told me it had spoken to his own grief I decided to give it a go. And so, like the haunted family in Jennifer Kent’s masterpiece, I let it in.
