Pick Me Up!

CHUNKS OF FLESH

Pulling into a parking space at a petrol station, I felt butterflies fluttering in my tummy.

Then I saw a van pull in, too. Getting out of my car, I headed over and a man opened up the back of the van.

An adorable black and white puppy stared back at me.

‘Hello,’ I smiled, tentatively leaning towards him.

He was shy and a bit nervous – after all, he’d come all the way from Bulgaria.

I let him sniff around me, and then I went to pick him up and give him a cuddle.

At six months old, he was already a big boy – but I could tell he was a real softie, too.

I put him in the back of my car and drove him the couple of hours back home to Blackpool.

I already had two dogs, and I hadn’t planned to get another.
