A lot people think of compatibility as something fixed and formulaic, often basing it on stuff like having similar personalities or hobbies and interests in common.
But focussing on these kinds of factors can leave you feeling that when things aren’t going well there’s not a lot you can do. You can get stuck in the cycle of thinking ‘it’s not working because we’re so different, so what’s the point of trying?’
