GETTING HARASSED TO GO SKATING EVERY DAY BY A GIRL THAT IS OVER TWO DECADES YOUNGER THAN YOU IS A BIT UNUSUAL, RIGHT? IT MAKES ME WONDER IF IT IS OUT OF PITY FOR ME BEING OLD, OR IF SHE REALLY JUST NEEDS A DRIVER AND SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT FILMER. OR, IS IT JUST THE FACT THAT NO MATTER WHAT THE AGE DIFFERENCE IS, WE CAN STILL SKATE TOGETHER AND HAVE A BALL WHILE DOING IT?

Skating with Hayley typically involves weird TikTok quotes in the car ride to the spot, or watching how many bites of a banh mi she can wolf down with a broken wrist while driving her monster pick-up truck, which is too big even for me to get in. I guess it’s just what I have to endure for now in the hope that one day she will cut me a key to her private indoor skatepark.

As well as being a great human, Hayley’s skateboarding has made a strong impact on a local and international level, all before she has even turned 21. Let’s see where this kid from Mansfield can go this year and further into the future. I’m sure the tear she is currently on will continue once this old head is long gone! Get it, HKW.
