FROM THE ARCHIVES ISSUE 12: THE BIRDMAN COMETH

The day before I left on a 13-hour drive from Newcastle to Melbourne, Trent Fahey asked if I could review Slam Issue 12 from October/November 1990, which also happened to be the first issue of the magazine he said he’d ever owned. Of course, I accepted. Issue 12 has more Tony Hawk content than any other Australian mag in history, and I knew from lurking Instagram that Trent had interviewed Tony for the issue you’re holding now. I had a stall at a zine fair called Festival of the Photocopier once I arrived in Victoria, so I knew there’d be enough time to make some notes.
