CARRYING DEEP

For many lawful concealed carriers, being caught carrying a gun could end a career, destroy a close relationship, or even result in being targeted for a violent crime. We should all do as much as possible to carry as discreetly as possible (see “CCW Printing” in CONCEALMENT Issue 23).

The concept of deep carry differs from standard carry in that the firearm will remain concealed even with some level of additional scrutiny. The term encompasses a wide range of circumstances such that your concealed firearm is on your person, doesn’t print, and isn’t revealed through some state of undress such as lifting or removing your shirt. Deep carry is among the most discreet ways to stay armed. The effect of not needing to worry about these issues means that deep carriers can move naturally and do more activities while armed. Standing, sitting, and moving naturally reduces daily aches and eliminates the stiff-body telltale sign of someone who’s carrying.
