Before the May 21 federal election, ABC magazine spoke with several political parties about their policies for Australia’s public transport future.

Finding a political party’s public transport policies is like spotting a needle in a haystack. But we did the hard work of looking through the smokescreen of election campaigns, speaking with the current federal government, the opposition and the Australian Greens Party about their plans for public transport.

What we have found is that, from infrastructure funding to emphasising a sustainable future, the different sides of politics vary in their public transport policies ahead of the election.

For the current federal government, comprising the Liberal and National parties, the focus is on upgrading public transport magazine he wants to continue boosting infrastructure upgrades on important public transport projects if the coalition is elected in for another term.
