AN urgent request by the Kent & East Sussex Railway for another operational diesel on August 8 was quickly answered, and within three days No. 33202 Dennis G Robinson had arrived on the line. It entered service on August 13, working alongside ‘Teddy Bear’ No. D9526 and resident Class 108 DMU comprising Nos. 50971+51571.
The pressing need for another diesel came as a result of an extreme fire risk, which resulted in the withdrawal of all steam operations – a situation faced by several lines across the country. The KESR already has No. D9526 on hire from
