ZF’S BUS CONNECT AND AFTERMARKET NEWS

ZF is well-known for its OE bus products and aftermarket offerings. At this year’s Bus & Coach Expo, the Oceania team will turn its focus to ZF’s latest telematics solutions for bus and coaches, Bus Connect.

“Our main objective at this year’s Expo is to build awareness of our vast products and services that we can provide to the market locally,” ZF Oceania Managing Director Mark Lowe told ABC. “Specifically, we really want to highlight and build awareness of our new telematics program for fleet operators in Bus Connect.

“The Australian market could be considered quite saturated in terms of telematics providers, but we believe Bus Connect offers a point of difference.”

To highlight the features of the Bus Connect fleet management tool, ZF is planning live demonstrations of the telematics solutions for prospective customers at stand number 117A.

ZF will also be showcasing its e-mobility solutions, including the CeTrax electric central drive that can be used in various bus and heavy vehicle applications and the AxTrax AVE portal axle.

The Expo will also be a great opportunity for ZF to spread awareness about its recent acquisition of Wabco Vehicle Control Systems.

“We want to show the linkage between ZF and Wabco,” Lowe says. “With this acquisition, ZF is now a one-stop shop for bus and heavy vehicle applications with advanced solutions for safe, sustainable and digitised transport.”

ZF will also be exhibiting an array of its aftermarket offerings for bus and coach applications from its Lemforder, SACHS and TRW brands with dedicated displays on steering and suspension components, shock absorbers and clutches, and braking systems.

“It’ll just be so good to get out there and see customers, to really showcase where ZF is heading,” Lowe says. “It’s been a long time coming; we’ll use it to discuss our latest generation of e-mobility and how we can provide the products and services that customers and the market requires.”

NEW YUTONG ELECTRIC MODELS FRONT AND CENTRE

Yutong has spent 2022 launching new products, meaning it has plenty to show at this year’s Bus & Coach Expo. In October, its latest D7 minibus will be showcased and Yutong will launch its new electric bus.

After undergoing a test drive across the countryside with ABC in June, Yutong Australia general manager Lou Riccardi says the new minibus model will be proudly displayed at Yutong’s Expo booth.

“We’re excited to be showing off our new D7 minibus,” Riccardi told ABC. “We’ll have our D7 model there with a wheelchair lift on it too.”

But the new Yutong minibus model won’t be the main attraction for Yutong at the Expo. Instead, Vehicle Dealers International (VDI), Yutong’s Australian distributor, will debut its new electric bus aimed at school and mining operations, as well as the tried and tested E12 low floor electric bus.

Riccardi says it will be the mainstay of Yutong’s Expo display and will be complemented by a fleet of other models.

STAND 112 DISPLAY AREA

“Our latest electric bus will be front and centre,” Riccardi says. “Along with our new D7, we’ll also show our D9 diesel vehicle.”

In its 10th year operating in Australia, Yutong will also soon introduce its new range of Euro 6 powered vehicles to the country.

Riccardi says all of this electric innovation is what Yutong wants to show to the industry to prove it is progressing in the zero-emission vehicles area as a market leader.

“We want to showcase the advantages that Yutong have made in the electric space,” Riccardi says. “We want to show what we’ve done in terms of our vehicle design and what it’s doing in the electric market globally.”

“We’ll have our D7 model there with a wheelchair lift on it too.”

VISIT VOLVO’S ELECTRIC BUS VISION

Volvo Bus Australia is joining the wave of manufacturers at this year’s Expo as it pulls out all the stops with its new electric chassis.

On its stand, Volvo will give visitors a showcase of its BZL Electric chassis with a body built by Express Coach Builders.

It’s a new direction for Volvo Bus Australia, and general manager Mitchell Peden says he is excited about it.

“The Volvo BZL Electric, which launched last year, is our first fully electric chassis in Australia,” Peden told ABC. “It’s the first time we’ll display the body design with Express Coach Builders, which will be great.

“This chassis will allow us to also highlight in particular the New South Wales regional build capabilities of our models to show we are building in NSW, for the rural and regional NSW market.”

While Volvo showcases its BZL Electric chassis, it’ll also display the company’s latest movements around safety and quality assurance. But its biggest conversations will be had around environmental care and sustainability within and around the Volvo BZL chassis.

STAND 107 DISPLAY AREA

“Particularly in Sydney and NSW, the state government has flagged it’ll only be procuring electric vehicles ongoing in the city space,” Peden says. “Volvo has a strong history of diesel buses, but this Expo is about our new technology and long-term vision for the future.”

The new Volvo BZL Electric chassis is particularly exciting for Volvo. It was launched in Australia last year, but the Expo will be the first time people get a chance to see the design. While it provides a platform for the zero-emissions chassis to be shown, Volvo will also continue discussing its reliable after-market customer support with visitors.

“We’re keen to show our ability to build with a NSW-based partner to bring to market a product tailored for the NSW regional area,” Peden says. “Being an innovation leader, we want to take part in these conversations going forward and we welcome everyone to see our vision for the future at the Expo.”
