Is it possible that the foldable phone has reached maturity? With the Galaxy Z Fold4, Samsung hasn’t reinvented the genre. Instead, it brings a number of small but welcome enhancements over the Z Fold3 (see issue 325, p46), including a new processor and upgraded cameras.

There are lots of design tweaks too, some of which you can see while others are hidden. At 155mm long it’s almost 3mm shorter than the Fold3, giving it a more conventional phone shape, and it’s thinner. Where the Fold3 was 6.4mm thick in unfolded tablet mode, it now measures 6.3mm. It also brings the weight down to 263g, so is 8g lighter than the Fold3.
