Ron and ron

Following up on Trevor’s letter (Fuel for thought AMCN Vol 71 No 03), when I purchased my Suzuki SV1000S in 2003, I had a conversion with a mechanic at the dealership about which fuel was best to use. He suggested premium would give better fuel economy while providing a crisper throttle response. He also suggested only using 95 RON as he had heard of issues using 98 RON in some motorcycles. He surmised that due to a slower turnover of 98 RON premium, as not as many people purchased it, meant that it was more susceptible to contaminants, etc.

I’m not sure how accurate his info was, or whether things have changed over the years. Maybe there are more vehicle on the road requiring 98 RON than back then? I don’t know. All I know is I have
