Materials

• 20cm (¼yd) each of six assorted print fabrics. Helen used two different rose prints, a blue floral+check print, a red stripe print, and two floral print fabrics
• Fat eighth each of eight assorted print fabrics. Helen used two pink floral prints, two blue floral prints, one blue tone-on-tone print and three cream print fabrics
• 30cm (⅜yd) cream with red spots print fabric
• 1.2m (1¼yd) cream with black spots print fabric (block frames and border)
• 40cm (½yd) red diagonal check print fabric (sashing)
• 40cm (½yd) red print fabric (binding)
• 2.1m (2⅜yd) backing fabric
• Batting at least 130cm (53in) square
• Rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat
• Sewing machine with ¼in foot
• General sewing supplies

Cutting

From the cream with black spots print fabric, cut:

• 11 strips, 2in x width of fabric. Cross cut them to yield 18 strips, 2in x 9½in and 18 strips, 2in x 12½in (block borders)
• five strips, 3½in x width of fabric (border)

From the red diagonal check print fabric, cut:

• eight strips, 1½in x width of fabric. Cross cut them to yield 24 strips, 1½in x 12½in (sashings)

From a cream print fabric, cut:

• 16 squares, 1½in (cornerstones)

From the red print fabric for the binding, cut:

• five strips, 2½in x width of fabric
