Da Vinci makes Dublin his easel

HOPES are often raised and dashed at Ballsbridge, but dreams also come true. And so it proved for Grace Maxwell, when her home-bred and home-produced Gleann Rua Da Vinci went on to take the middleweight and supreme ridden hunter championship.

The gallop often proves decisive along the long stand side in front of an appreciative crowd and, with a point-to-point rider in the saddle who knows how to ride at speed, Da Vinci effortlessly lowered and stretched for Grace’s husband William McMahon.

“We have never managed to buy a horse of this quality, so to breed one is a dream come true,” said Grace. “Da Vinci has great movement, his gallop is phenomenal and he has a serious jump.”
