PATTERN NOTES

The front and back are identical and worked sideways from the centre crochet cast-on. Once the first section is complete, stitches are picked up along the cast-on edge, forming a chain-like seam, then the second section is worked from the centre out to the sleeve end.

The front and back are joined with a modified three-needle cast-off worked from the right side; this gives a neat chain edge along the side seams.

CROCHET CAST-ON

For a tutorial on how to perform a crochet cast-on, see www.craftsy.com/post/crochet-cast-on-tutorial/ We covered the crochet cast-on in our Masterclass in Issue 165 - but for this pattern, use your project yarn rather than waste yarn as specified in the Masterclass to work the cast-on.

FLEXIBLE CAST-OFF
