AVELING BACK ON THE ROAD

t was good to catch up with Steve Ward from Hitchin, Hertfordshire and his lovely overhauled 1921 Aveling & Porter BS No. 9370 10. The engine was new to Clutton Rural District Council, later Somerset County Council, as No. 57 in the fleet who kept the engine well maintained until 1963. It was sold to R Raynor, Langport, Somerset. Steve purchased it from W Pourson of Malvern in Worcestershire when it was called , and Steve rallied it for over 30 years.
