t was a chilly, rainy evening in the middle of what passes for winter in Sydney. The good folk from our local Lifeline were running one of their annual fundraising book fairs in a big draughty school hall. We’re all book lovers in my family, so spending an hour trawling through the endless tome-laden trestle tables of a book fair is our idea of a cracking good time.
