Staying mobile

MOST OF us probably never realised we had joints until we were over 50. But once we reach that age joints have an annoying habit of making themselves known. Pain in the shoulder, or neck, or elbow, or wrist, or hips, or knees, or feet – the list goes on.

It’s not surprising that decades of wear and tear can take its toll, leading to some discomfort. Some types of work or activities may be worse than others, of course – regular heavy lifting, for example, or otherwise putting pressure on certain joints won’t help.

But there are precautions we can take to minimise any damage already caused, and to prevent future harm.
