ive years ago, as a way to fund her upcoming album, Melbourne-based musician Anna Cordell decided to resurrect her other creative talent: telling a story through clothes rather than lyrics. Previously working as a vintage fashion buyer for a couple of national retailers, she’d been designing and making her own garments for years, and her most recent creation was starting to garner a lot of attention. “I made a casual corduroy suit to wear on stage for gigs so I felt confident and comfortable and had a kind of uniform that felt like me,” Anna explains. “Not long after, I included it in my first range of clothing and it was the piece that everyone was most excited about.
