APPRENTICE

NAME:

ZOE KIRKBRIDE

CAMERA:

CANON EOS 77D

ZOE LOVES travelling and documenting her journeys with her camera. She lives in Edinburgh and is perfectly placed to take some incredible city scenes, but has written to us asking for help as she would like to know how to get the best out of her Canon camera as she currently shoots in semi-auto modes like Aperture Priority. We’ve paired her up for the day with pro city photographer Adam Bulley to show her the ropes and help take her photography to the next level.

To make sure she got the correct exposure, Adam also suggested using the histogram and checking pictures on a regular basis to ensure the exposures of her city scenic shots looked good.

STARTING SETTINGS

Manual mode, Adam set Zoe’s camera to begin with an aperture of f/8 for good depth of field throughout the scene; f/8 is also often one of the sharpest apertures to use on
